So, there is a question which we always ask ourselves: What are those criteria and rules via which we can get our blogs and articles on the top of Google search?

Should our articles be well optimized for search engines, should they be well written for our readers but should they also be fascinating? Let’s go through the golden rules that an article should meet so that it is positioned on the top of SERP.

How do we choose the right SEO keywords?

The best and recommended way is to use the keyword planner provided by Google and for the words which are trending, we use Google trend. By using the first option, when you will choose the words, the keyword planner will provide you with similar keyword suggestions with average monthly searches or AMS. This AMS will help you to know the keywords which have a good number of searches and so you can include them in your content and descriptions.
A simple trick is to use the long-tail keywords or going with the keywords having low monthly searches. But you have to keep in mind, that it will also draw less traffic as compared to hot keywords.
Tips: Use a variety of keywords while writing your article or blog, LSI(Latent semantic indexing) which means synonyms, paraphrases, close words that form the topic and Google easily understands these types of contents and also appreciates you for trying to be diversified with your expressions.

Where do we use the keywords?

The average recommended keyword density on most of the search engines like Google or Bing is 3%. The keywords should be distributed throughout the text and you can use them in: Title Tag, Links inside the text other attributes: like Image, Headline tags like H1 and H2Meta Description tag. You can learn more about keywords in this SEO blog post.

Should we write the original content?

The user and the search engines fall in love with a webpage that consists of texts, images, videos, Infographics, etc, is the content. So, if the text is well written with relevant images, infographics and videos then it will stand out from others with relevant keywords and so you have a chance to beat your competitors. Since we all are humans and it is well known that not everyone is that good at writing SEO-friendly content or content which can attract users so in that case, they might need someone for the Copywrite SEO.

Conetnt is king

Tell a story to your user or take them through a journey…

A blog or article that manages to narrate a beautiful story or is able to arouse emotions and curiosity has been always appreciated and well received by the public. For example, we can talk about the new Vaccine for Covid that has managed to save the life of a mother and her newborn baby. The article may include the keywords related to that vaccine, which should be well dispersed in the text, but from the beginning, it should also tell the story of the mother and the newborn.

Importance of Meta title in your blog/webpage

One of the most important factors in OnPage SEO and even in the overall SEO is the title tag of the webpage. The recommended length of the title is 60-70 characters for many search engines. Your title tag must contain a keyword in a way it looks attractive to your users and the search engine. Think of the title as the shop window so if it is not looking good or is not attractive to the user then your user will go away to the other place. You might need the help of an SEO copywriter for writing the SEO+User-friendly titles.

The ideal size of a text

The ideal length of your SEO friendly article/blog should be between 1500-2000 words. Google Panda which is an algorithm of Google search engine for SEO penalizes webpages having less or poor content. Generally, the top results on Google search engines contain more than 1000 words. When your content length is more than people spend more time on your article and blog and so it leads to a better position on the search engines like Google as their main goal is to provide relevant search results to its users.

Structure your content of the blogs and articles using headings.

Heading tags like H1-H6 has their own relevance. Some people will tell you that nowadays they are not valuable but believe me, they have become more important in ranking as Google tries to find out the structure of your page and its content using these heading tags. H1 is still the most important tag of all of them and so you must use a keyword while deciding the H1 tag of your blog.

Should you include keywords in your URL?

keywords in address of a website

It is always recommended to use keywords in your permalinks but at the same time, it is also true to keep it as short and simple as possible. So you must do a careful analysis related to keywords before going with the URLs.

Use links in the text

It is always recommended to use internal links while creating your blog or article. Anchor texts and anchor tags play an important role in SEO optimization and hence you have to optimize them as well. If you have a similar blog written in the past or you have something important related to the particular word then you must link it with that page. For example, if you have any products for which you are giving references, then you should provide a link to that product page.

Know your audience

Before writing any blog and article you have to keep in mind the types of users like if you want to write a blog on the topic of woman’s health and safety, most of your users will be female. So you have to write content which is of their interest, how they can be safe at home as well as while going outside and many other topics related to it. You can also implement Google Analytics on your website to measure the various parameters of your audience like gender, country, type of devices, etc.

Test the mobile-friendliness of your blog or article content including images and videos.

Google has already implemented Mobile first’s algorithm so if your blog/article page is not mobile-friendly then it will be difficult for you to rank your webpage on Google search. According to some reports, mobile traffic in some cases is more than 70% so it can’t be neglected while writing your blog and article. You need to create a separate strategy for mobile-friendliness like optimizing the images and videos and scaling them as per the mobile device, write concise titles, etc.

Contents and Conclusions

You must write a catchy introduction to your article and blog so that your user will be able to understand the various topics and areas you are going to touch and explain in your blog. This is one of the good opportunities to use the keywords in your intro, keywords that are of the interests of the user. The conclusion will help the user remember the key points of your blog as well as you may suggest to them other blog pages at the end so that they will remain on your website and reading your other blogs.

The frequency with which we write

Write daily or as often as you can so that Google crawler will pay you the visits at regular intervals. the fact is that when you will write constantly, Google will reward you and in other words built the home, brick by brick. If you are going to publish 5-6 blogs at once then, it will not be of that much help to you to drive the traffic.

Expression mode and sentence length

Think of yourself as the end-user who is going to read your blog and then write. If your reader will find you and your blog as a virtual friend who is very near to him or her then there is a high chance of returning for your next blog as well as they will spend lots of time on your blog site. Statistics show that we read 20% slower online than in print media like newspapers, so write about what you and your user like with passions and words coming naturally.

The rule of 5 W

Who, What, When, Where, Why can make an article complete as it will answer most of the questions of the readers. You may also include How to your blog like while writing about a product and having its presentation video “How it works”. Try to not use how with the 5Ws in the same sentence. By adding this, your user will get most of the information about your product and how to use it.
Start with “What’s best”Start the sentence with the keywords to draw attention to the important things you want to convey to your users. Don’t keep the good keywords in your stock for the end as the user might not read your whole blog if S/He does not find it interesting. Come back with the conclusion at the end where you will remember the most important points.

Check the text for grammatical mistakes

Check for grammatical errors else your whole work will go in vain. If there are mistakes of expression then you will look unprofessional as well as will create mistrust. Your reader might have to put an extra effort to understand what you have written. If your English is not good then you can use some online tools for correcting your grammatical mistakes like I use Grammarly

Conclusions:

Writing for the first page of Google is not an easy task as you have, to attract the readers, meet the requirements of search engines like using the right keywords for your site, and also take care of the searches that are done in the past.

You will be noticed by Google if you will write content having a length of more than 2000 words. Also try to use SEO optimized title tags, meta descriptions, H1 headings along with H2 to H6. Remember to provide internal backlinks to your other blog pages so that your user spends lots of time on your website and use infographics to explain clearly.

You might find it difficult to remember all these points or in my words, Golden rules from Apptians to write an article or the blog but believe me, if you are going to follow it, then 1st page and the 1st rank of the google search engine are not far away from you.
